While we were working in the yard, I got to watch a mother bird, literally KICK her babies out of the nest. Their first attempts at flight were shaky, but successful. One exhausted little birdie spent a good deal of time resting on a nearby branch.

A Bit Overdue
These are some pictures from a nice, quiet, Memorial Day weekend. We didn't travel, we didn't have visitors or plans, we just enjoyed being in the yard, a trip to the Taste of Cincinnati and time together as a family!

Something I learned that day...the mother still fed them even though they weren't in the nest. Each baby bird would take turns "calling" for her. She'd dig up a worm and then fly over and feed them a little snack. Amazing!
